Regulated Medical Waste

The EHS Regulated Medical Waste Shipper training provides instructions for the safe handling and transporting of regulated medical waste. This training complies with regulatory agencies including the Department of Transport (DOT), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), NYS Department of Health (DOH), NYS Department of Environment Conservation (DEC) and New York City Department of Environment Protection (DEP).

The training includes general awareness and familiarization (video), function-specific training, safety, security awareness, and other training required by EPA and DOT. Regulated medical waste types includes red bag waste, sharps waste, pathological waste and chemotherapeutic waste. 

Training Frequency

Participation is required once every three years for anyone packaging, labeling, storing, and signing medical waste tracking forms for regulated medical waste.

Training Registration

The Regulated Medical Waste Shipper training registration is administered via the Weill Training Management System (WTMS).
