Environmental Health and Safety is committed to the well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors throughout the workplace. This means actively identifying and preventing workplace hazards of many different types, from the equipment we work with to the air we breathe. Whether you work at a desk or operate heavy machinery, an unsafe working condition could cause injury or illness, either immediately or over a long period of time. In order to protect our community, EHS maintains ongoing programs that monitor numerous hazards, such as:
- environmental hazards including asbestos, lead and mold
- physical hazards including noise, equipment and machinery hazards, electrical hazards, fall hazards, and confined spaces
- chemical hazards
- musculoskeletal hazards (ergonomics)
EHS can assist with the identification and assessment of workplace hazards.
