Due to the Fire Department storage limits for use and storage of flammable liquids in laboratories, principal investigators and manager/supervisors may request temporary storage of excess flammable liquids with EHS. This service is intended solely for the storage of overstock flammable liquids, not for general reagent storage. Storage of flammable liquids within the EHS storage facility is subject to the following conditions:
- A maximum container size of four liters
- Store volumes of the routinely used flammable liquids that will be utilized within a 6-month timeframe. Chemicals stored for longer than 6 months are subject to disposal.
- Provide EHS with associated MSDSs, as needed.
- Use appropriate equipment when transporting chemicals in the corridor, such as a cart with secondary containment (e.g., four-walled or tube/bin) or protective bottle carriers.
While we are usually available to provide timely access to your reagents, we cannot guarantee immediate access to the facility. Plan ahead and contact EHS before lab stocks are depleted.
