Free Biological Spill Kits

By Gabrielle Repik, Assistant Biosafety Manager

EHS has created biohazard spill kits for laboratories and provides them, free of charge, to all WCM laboratory locations.

Spills of biological materials are potentially hazardous to individuals, colleagues, and those in surrounding areas. To ensure your laboratory is ready during a biological spill, watch this short video to learn more about the biohazard spill kits and what to do if a spill occurs. Review the WCM Biological Spill and Response Plan and the Biological Spill Response Chart for additional details.

Biological spill kits, as seen below, have been placed in the centrally located safety havens of the Belfer Research Building and at Burke Neurological Institute. Additional kits are being prepared and will be provided to all WCM laboratory locations (e.g., 1300, S, Feil) in the coming weeks.

Biohazard spill kits and replacement supplies can be requested by contacting your EHS Safety Advisor or by contacting ehs@med.cornell.edu.
